Mazda Will Revive New RX-7
Discontinued in 2002, the Japanese double sports car Mazda RX-7 may return to the market in the near future. This is the official information passed to the public by the representatives of the company on the press conference. Let’s see what we managed to learn more about this project.
Currently, the idea of reviving the legendary model of the Japanese company was discussed by the upper management of Mazda. According to majority of official company sources, the verdict on the new project will be submitted after a careful study of the economic situation in the world. It is assumed that the successor to the RX-7, which will receive the index symbol RX-9, will inherit its predecessor’s front-wheel and rear-wheel drive layout. At the flagship coupe Mazda initially plans to install an atmospheric version of the rotary engine Wankel, and a little later in the range of engines will also be turbocharged version of the unit.
According to rumors, sports car Mazda RX-9 will be built on the same platform with the model MX-5 of the next generation. For the home market Mazda plans to produce the model RX-9 in a four versions, a version for Europe will be equipped with two seats. The approximate cost of the successor of Mazda RX-7 will be $ 25,000.
I like the news of the return of the Rx-7, but I like the old body from 1993 to 2002 model, this new body i don’t like at all, they should keep that old body and they will be ok.
I agree with Vinnie their is nothing like that year of body. Plus it is iconic body style that sticks out to RX fans.
The front might pass with a few cosmetic work but as for the rear of the car got me into thinking of an Crysler car instead of japanese…
When I saw the front I was like: OMG! this car looks awesome, I love it!
Then I saw the back and now I never ever want to see this thing again. Seriously, how could they ever do that.
The front and rear images are not of the same car.
Brian, thanks for your attentiveness 😉
