Pickup Mazda BT-50 will be created on the basis of Isuzu models

The Japanese car brand Mazda intends to make a presentation of BT-50 pickup in the near future. The car will be built on the basis of other well-known model. The updated model will be based on Isuzu chassis, reducing to a minimum the investment in a new car.

Cooperation between the two companies has been going on for more than fifteen years: according to the OEM-agreement Isuzu delivers Mazda Titan full trucks with capacity from 1.15 to 4.6 ton. So the new pickup Mazda BT-50 will be created in the Isuzu D-Max next generation image and likeness. Isuzu D-Max will be released in two or three years.

Isuzu D-Max model is now available with a 2.5-liter diesel turbo engine that develops no less than 163 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The motor works with 6-speed manual transmission, as well as a 5-speed automatic transmission. Mazda BT-50 current generation is equipped with a 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine, which develops 160 hopsepower. By the way, D-Max current generation is developed jointly with the concern General Motors and has numerous clones: Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, Holden Colorado.
