Racing prototype Mazda RT24-P presented in Los Angeles

It was quite surprising that the Japanese company Mazda Motor Corporation officially presented the new racing prototype Mazda RT24-P of 2017 model year ugh at the motor show in Los Angeles. Presented car will take part in the American endurance race IMSA the next year.

According to the representatives of the Japanese brand, the new sports car Mazda RT24-P is based on a chassis Riley Mk. 30, but it received a number of unique design solutions. For the first time in history, the racing car received KODO design solution which is used for the creation of road vehicles: just pay attention to the shape of the front air intake, which design reminds the grille of many Mazda models.

Prototype Mazda RT24-P is set in motion by the 2.0-liter turbo engine MZ-2.0T, which is able to generate around 600 horsepower. This engine was used by the Japanese brand in the IMSA-2016 championship and Advanced Engine Research specialists worked on its creation. In 2017 the Japanese manufacturer plans to release two prototypes of Mazda RT24-P. US team SpeedSource Race Engineering will be engaged in its maintenance.
